Pakistan Navy, on the directions of Chief of Naval Staff, has launched rescue operations (Operation Madad) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province to assist local government and authorities in rescuing flood affected people in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera regions.
In this regard, an emergency cell has been activated at naval headquarters, Islamabad and a number of specialist naval commandos and marine teams, along-with boats and diving gears, have been dispatched to the affected areas. Pakistan Navy initially responded by sending its Quick Response Team, stationed at PNS ZAFAR Islamabad along-with requisite gear, boats and other equipment on the night of 29 July.
Subsequently, two Fokker Aircraft carrying additional SSG (N) and marines' teams, along-with their associated 'life saving and search & rescue equipment' (speed boats, diving gears and other rescue items), took off from naval commandos/units in Karachi which landed in Risalpur. In addition to Fokker aircraft, relief goods are on their way from Karachi in two truckloads. Pakistan Navy, being deeply concerned with the devastation caused by the floods, stands shoulder to shoulder with other national organs and armed forces to provide relief to the people of flood hit Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.-PR
