HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks opened higher Wednesday ahead of a key European Union summit where leaders will seek to tackle the debt crisis threatening the eurozone and the single currency.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index was up 76.99 points, or 0.41 percent, to 19,019.22 in early trading.
The summit is due to be held in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
