HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares fell 1.24 percent on Tuesday after Standard & Poor's warned it could downgrade the ratings of most of the eurozone -- including Germany and France -- if its debt crisis is not resolved.
Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 237.46 points to end at 18,942.23 on turnover of HK$47.39 billion ($6.10 billion).
Chinese shares closed down 0.31 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, lost 7.32 points to close at 2,325.91 on turnover of 42.6 billion yuan ($6.7 billion).
