YANGON: President Barack Obama told Myanmar pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi that the United States would give her its eternal support as it increases engagement with the country's rulers.
"We stand by you now and always," Obama wrote in a letter for his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to personally hand over at a meeting in Yangon, saying he had long admired the Nobel laureate's "brave and unwavering struggle".
