A fresh list of the beneficiaries of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) from Sindh province will be presented before the Supreme Court on Thursday, it is learnt.
According to sources in the Sindh government, earlier also a list was submitted to the Supreme Court a few days ago, but was rejected by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary as it lacked proper and complete information about the beneficiaries, such as disposal of cases, with date and time and charge sheet number/final report, and any disposal order by court to the concerned police stations under Cr PC or NRO.
According to a letter forwarded by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Waseem Ahmed to all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), available with Business Recorder, senior police officers had been directed to prepare required information/report by mentioning above missing columns in the prescribed pro forma, and hand it over to SSP Investigation, who was to furnish details by December 9, 2009 positively.
The police stations have also been asked to ensure correct and timely submission of the requisite information/report, sources said, adding that in case of any difficulty SP-Investigation-I East Zone, Capital City Police (CCP), Karachi, Niaz Ahmed Khoso, who has been made focal person of the police, could be consulted on the preparation of the fresh list of the beneficiaries.
Moreover, sources said that the Superintendent of Police (SP) of town would authenticate the information by signing each paper of the statement. The report of concerned SP would be submitted before the apex court and, in case of incorrect information, concerned SP would be held responsible, they added.
Fresh list of NRO beneficiaries would contain two more columns including disposal of the cases with date and charge sheet number/final report and whether the police stations received any disposal order (under CrPC or NRO) from the court. Details ie name of the court, date or any other relevant information would also be mentioned.
