Pakistan Under-19 Football team will explode into action in the 36th AFC U19 Championship (Group-D) 2009 when it will clash against host Iran at Takhti Stadium on Tuesday (December 8). Iran, Pakistan and Uzbekistan are participating in this tournament, as Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that Lebanon and Turkmenistan - have withdrawn from the 36th AFC U19 Championship (Group-D) 2009.
AFC has picked Iran to host the competition, which was originally scheduled for Lahore in Pakistan. The withdrawal of Maldives two months ago and Lebanon, Turkmenistan at the eleventh hour, has prompted the AFC to make changes in the event's schedule. All the games will be played at Takhti Stadium; Tehran and only one game will be played in a day now.
Earlier, the organisers had finalised to organise two games in a day. In addition, the whole event will complete within five days. The top two teams of Group-D and best third-placed team from the West will join the 13 teams who have already qualified for next year's finals. So far, 13 countries Jordan, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Australia, China, North Korea, Vietnam have taken their places in the finals.
The 20-player squad approved by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is comprised of Goal keepers (2); Muzammil Hussain, Saqib Hanif (Vice Captain); Wing full backs (5): Amir Siddiqui, Ali Raza, Badshah Gul, Faisal Iqbal (Captain), Junaid Qadir; Central Defenders (5): Manzoor Ahmed, Ghazanfar Abbas, Alamgir Khan, Sajid Hussain, Ehsanullah; Midfielders (5): Saad Ullah, Muhammad Adil, Zain Ullah, Saddam Hussain, Bilawal Ur Rehman. Strikers (3): Amir Hamza, Usman Manzoor and Waheed Hameed.
