SHANGHAI: China shares ended up 0.1 percent on Monday as a rally in Asian regional markets gave a moderate boost to sentiment, pushing some investors to seek bargains among index heavyweights such as PetroChina Co Ltd and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.
Reports that the International Monetary Fund was considering a bailout package for Italy spurred a rally in risky assets in Asia trade.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,383.0 points in thin volume, after a 1.5 percent decline over the week last week. PetroChina closed up 0.73 percent and ICBC was up 0.24 percent.
