NWFP Government has ordered to reopen the mines of soft soap in Sherwan area of district Abbottabad besides establishing one hospital at Pind Kargu Khan and executing one big water supply scheme costing Rs 6 million.
These instructions were given by NWFP Minister for Mineral Development Nawabzada Mehmood Zeb flanked by Provincial Labour Minister Sher Azam Wazir while addressing divisional convention of People Labour Bureau at village Pind Kargu Khan, some 35km from here and also famous of being enriched with soap stone mines.
The Incharge People Labour Bureau Islamabad Chaudhry Manzoor presided over the function which was attended by MPAs Naeema Nisar and Dr Faiza Rashid, labourer leaders and large number of workers. The Provincial Ministers also announced the construction of one hospital equipped with modern health facility including one ambulance and executing water supply scheme costing Rs 6 million in Pind Kargu Khan.
The Provincial Minister while highlighting the steps taken by the past and present PPP governments, said that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani soon after taking over the charge of his office raised the minimum pay of the labourers from Rs 4600 to Rs 6000 per month. Similarly they informed that 'Jahaiz Fund' and education stipend for the daughters and children of workers have also been enhanced substantially.
Chaudhery Manzoor, Incharge People Labour Bureau, assured the labourers that all their genuine demands would be looked into and their due rights would be protected at all levels, while labour policy was in making and will be announced soon.
He also asked the provincial government to send welfare projects to the federal government as federal government has sufficient funds for the purpose, he added. He announced that a technical college for the labour community of the area would be set up in Sherwan area soon and provincial government would be asked to send proposal for the proposed project, he concluded.
