Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has organised a two-week training course on "Gemology - Gems Identification" at its Gems and Jewellery Training & Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) here on Saturday.
The training programme is being attended by 48 participants and a qualified gemologist of PGJDC, Ilyas Ali Shah, is the resource trainer for this course. CEO PGJDC Fawad H Khan said the prime objective of this course is to enhance the understanding of Gemology and the techniques used in identifying synthetic, treated and real gemstones.
This course is aimed at enabling the participants to get basic knowledge of Gemology and Gems Identification and to apply this knowledge and skills in their professional endeavour, he added. The CEO further said that training programme in Gemology is to impart basic skills and knowledge of Gemology and gemstones to the interested participants in the Gems and Jewellery sector of the country.
Organising such training programme is essential to the development of gems and jewellery sector as it enhances the skills of the gems and jewellery craftsmen and keeps their knowledge up-to-date with latest technology, techniques and trends, he maintained.
