Gal Gadot’s ‘Wonder Woman’ is doing exceptionally well around the world, but the film will not be shown in Lebanon following a decision by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, which said in a statement that ‘it has taken all necessary action to ban the film starring the Israeli actress Gal Gadot’.

Lebanese authorities banned the new ‘Wonder Woman’ movie on Wednesday hours before it was due to premiere in the capital, following a campaign against its lead actress, Gal Gadot, who served in the Israeli army, foreign media reported.

Not everyone agrees with the ban, a petition titled ‘Release Wonder Woman in Lebanon’ was also circulating on Thursday.

Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and the two countries have been through a number of wars. They also have a law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling or having contact with Israelis.

Warner Bros. has given no comment on the situation.

While the movie has been gathering positive response from the audience worldwide, ‘Wonder Woman’ is still set to open in Oman and Bahrain on June 29.
