Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Mian Shahbaz Sharif is all set to take oath as the 21st Chief Minister of Punjab in a ceremony being held here at Governor's House today (Sunday). The Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer will administer the oath. It would be the second term of Shahbaz Sharif as Punjab Chief Minister.
Earlier Shahbaz served as Punjab Chief Minister from February 20, 1997 to October 12, 1999. Shahbaz Sharif is considered as a very good administrator and political analysts believe that he wants to deliver and come up to the expectations of masses.
Since the induction of the PML-N-led coalition government in Punjab, development work under the banner of City District Government Lahore is being witnessed. The presence of Shahbaz Sharif is being felt strongly in the bureaucratic circles and bureaucrats have made up their minds to come up to the expectations of new chief executive in Punjab.
Shahbaz Sharif has already declared that political leadership has all the ability to perform and they will not let the country to be destabilised. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Punjab President Zulifqar Ali Khosa told reporters here on Saturday that hopefully Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and Shahbaz Sharif would work together in accordance with the constitutional provisions. Although, we had expressed some reservations over the procedure adopted in Taseer's appointment, but now the party has no reservations against him as governor, he added.
Khosa further said that the PML-N led coalition government in Punjab was according priority to agriculture, education and health sectors as well as law and order situation. He said a check and balance system would be put in place to improve performance of police department, which would also be provided latest equipment and weapons. He further said that the PML-N would fully participate in the lawyers' long march and would continue struggle till judges' reinstatement.
