Information Technology Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and Minister for Transport Pir Ghulam Mohy Uddin Chishti on Saturday inaugurated the issuance of computerised route permits here at Transport House. From now onward, "one window operation" has been launched to attend the applicants in minimum possible time.
Minister for Information Technology Abdul Aleem Khan told media men that IT department has completed this task at a cost of Rs 22 million in one year. Under the Vision-2020 of chief minister Punjab, all the public dealing offices are being equipped with latest computer technology. He said that computerisation of transport department would upgrade the efficiency of the department and people would get ultimately better services.
He said that record of 72,000 registered public buses would be switched over into new system. He added that experts of Information Technology department would remain with the officials of transport department for further three months to fully train them with the new system. He told that after Lahore, this system would be introduced in other districts of Punjab, as well.
Minister for Transport Pir Ghulam Mohy Uddin Chishti averred that this step would improve the working of transport department where manual system has been converted into an integrated system. He said that now consumers would not wander from room to room and their applications be processed in shortest possible time. Both the ministers pushed the button and witnessed the new embossed computerised route permit.
