Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Munir A. Malik has said the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, always fought for the basic rights and provided relief to the needy persons of society. He expressed these views, while addressing the members of the District Bar Association here on Saturday.
Malik said that on May 12, the killings of innocent people in Karachi was pre-planned. He said that he feels very happy in this city of Great Sufi Saint, Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah (RA) and city of brave people. Supreme Court Bar Council (SCBC) Secretary Chaudhry Abdul Majid, District Bar Association President Chaudhry Munir Ahmad and others also spoke on the occasion.
DEMONSTRATION: Around 200 powerloom workers staged a demonstration outside the Press Club, Kasur, led by Zulfiqar Ahmad demanding an increase in their salaries. Amid anti-government slogans, the protesters demanded of the government to ask the millers to accept their demands.
They said they were deprived of social security benefits and health facilities. They called upon the labour department to issue them social security cards without any further delay.
TWO KILLED in ROAD MISHAP: Two people were killed, when a car hit with a tractor trolley on Manga Mandi Road bypass in the limits of police station Sadar Raiwind. Police said, Sheikh Munir Ahmad and Muhammad Akram were travelling in their car from Chunian to Lahore, when they reached near Manga Road bypass, their car hit the tractor trolley parked in the middle of the road, resultantly, both died on the spot.
