Tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq who has shown outstanding performance in the Wimbledon event has been included in the Pakistan Olympics Association (POA)'s Athletics Commission. This was stated by Pakistan Olympics Association (POA) President Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Arif Hasan while talking to mediamen after a meeting of the POA, here on Saturday.
He maintained that POA would extend all out support and patronisation to Aisam-ul-Haq for improving his performance. To a question, he stated that in the federal budget 2007-08, no raise has been made in the grants for different games rather the grants decrease if compared with inflation.
He further said that POA in its meeting here on Saturday accorded approval of organising next National Games in NWFP. The meeting also decided to arrange School and Youth Olympics to promote games at grass root level. It was also decided in the meeting that all the federations should appoint paid office secretaries to run their affairs.
