More than 20,000 people of 200 villages in Kachho area of Dadu district are still stranded due to fresh rains and flood in Gaj Naen (mountain river) with no communication with outside world. People were not getting sufficient food for survival and there was famine like situation in Kachho.
Hundreds of people from Wahi Pandhi, Saruro, Tando Rahim and other villages have reached Dadu, Jhangara, Sewhan and Johi and have told plight of those stranded in floodwater. They said that fresh rains have lashed the area which have caused more flood in Naen Gaj which was now carrying more than 100,000 cusecs of water in a minute.
The six-day straight since first rainfall, no functionary from federal, provincial or district governments have visited the area under flood. The people of union council Saruro, Tando Rahim and Drigh Bala were passing days and nights without government aid.
Due to heavy rains in area and in Balochistan, small drains were also bringing rain water in the Kachho. The roads connecting various villages with Johi were affected by floods, causing acute shortage of food, vegetables, ghee, cereals and other eatables and stranded people were undergoing starvation. A source told PPI that because of differences between federal minister Liaquat Jatoi and MPA Shajeela Legahri the relief for stranded people could not be dispatched.
Qalander Bux Rodhnani, a social worker of Kachho, told that other villages which were surrounded in rain water included Keti Ismail, Keti Sujawal, Kando Babar, Bahawal Babar, Sewo Jamali, Jano Jeskani Thulh, Molvi Noor Muhammad Rodnani and Ahmed Birhmani. Relief commissioner office in Hyderabad and that of additional relief commissioner were contacted by PPI through phone but clerks Qamarddin and others could not provide information as to whether their offices have sent relief for stranded people or not. RC and ARC Anwar Ahmed and Munir could not be contacted.
