Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League Mushahid Hussain Sayed while strongly refuting the impression about any disintegration in the ranks of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) said the party is as strong as it ever was. Talking to a private television channel he said the PML is not a one man show rather it is a big democratic force.
The party is playing a very important role in country's politics and the leadership is showing tolerance and boldness to the criticism by its members. The PML is preparing for general elections and there exists unique unity among its ranks, he said.
Mushahid said that presidential election would be held on any date from September 15 to October 15 and the constitutional requirements would be followed in letter and spirit in this regard.
He further said under constitution the president can hold two offices by the end of this year and next strategy would be evolved in line with constitution. He said that despite having the president in uniform, Pakistan is the freest country in the Muslim world.
To a question Mushahid Hussain said that no conspiracy is being hatched in the party to remove him from the post of General Secretary adding such ideas are floated by the rumours factories working round the clock. He urged the opposition parties to co-operate the government's initiative to evolved joint strategy for holding free and fair elections.
If the opposition parties can co-operate the government on the issues like 17th Constitutional amendments and amendments in Hadood Ordinance than why can the not on such a vital issue of national interest, he asked.
