The Rawalpindi Police Wednesday got four kidnapped persons released from captivity after it busted an inter-provincial gang and arrested two, including the ringleader. Kidnapping cases were registered in police stations of R A Bazar, Airport, Tarnol and Saddar Baironi. Investigation team was led by SP Operation.
City Police Officer, Syed Murwat Ali Shah revealed this at a press conference in R A Bazar Police Station. Shah informed the media that Suhail Riaz of Kamalabad was kidnapped on February 11, when he was on his way home from Military Hospital where his 6-year-old daughter was admitted. His car JB-187 was recovered from Chungi No 22. The kidnappers demanded ransom of Rs 3 million from his brother Danish Riaz.
He said that another person Murtaza was kidnapped from Chakri interchange and kidnappers demanded Rs 5 million ransom. Saqib Iqbal was kidnapped from Saddar Baironi police station and Rs 5 million was demanded as ransom. He said that modus-operandi of all three incidents was same.
Shah said that after surveillance of an outlaw Shahid police succeeded in busting a gang of kidnappers and arrested two persons including ringleader Zaid Hakeem and Muhammad Ijaz. The police also recovered three and a half kilogram charas from their possession.
He said that a gang member Khan Muhammad is in custody of Nowshera Police, while another member Musa Khan is in custody of Mardan Police. "We have moved an application in anti-terrorist court for transfer of these two gangsters", Shah said.
He said that Zahid Khan, programme officer of Islamabad Stock Exchange was kidnapped on May 31 and kidnappers demanded Rs 50 million from his brother Shahid. Shahid paid Rs 500,000 to kidnappers, but they refused to release Zahid. Investigation team arrested Aurangzeb of Jhelum and got released the Zahid Khan. CPO told reporters that the police officials who show better performance would get cash award and certificates. "We have paid more than Rs 650,000 reward to police officials to encourage them", he added.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Police Operations Yaseen Farooqi has issued show cause notice to ASI Sibtain Shah of Race Course Police Division for illegally detaining a person involved in theft and his young daughter for more than 30 hours. The girl has been handed over to Women Police Station.
