Shell Pakistan Limited and Marie Stopes Society have signed an agreement to work jointly for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among people. In this connection both the organisations jointly conducted one-day HIV/AIDS awareness and free screening camp at Shell Chaklala Depot on Tuesday.
Which was inaugurated by Major Munir Ahmad of SPL, Dr Tahir Baig Barlas, Corporate HSSE advisor of SPL, Dr Hidayatullah of Marie Stopes, and Usman Najeeb Khan SPL Depot Distribution Manager addressed the gathering.
Marie Stopes conducted an awareness session and free blood screening for two groups of Shell staff, community, drivers, and general workers. The speakers highlighted misconceptions in general public about HIV/AIDs and explained preventive measures one should take to minimise risks of this pandemic.
On the occasion Dr Tahir Baig Barlas informed the participants about Shell's policy on AIDS and its intention to raise awareness among staff, contractors and the community. Speaking about the purpose of the programme "Behtar Kal" Dr Hidayatullah said this programme is intended to provide assistance and guidance about HIV/AIDS to the general public.
