Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has extended its relief package announced for permanently disconnected consumers up to December 31, 2007. According to this package, the consumers who had been permanently disconnected for at least five years have been allowed to pay only 50 percent of the arrears to settle their accounts.
After settlement of arrears, the reconnections of these consumers would be restored as per existing policy.
