Supreme Court takes suo motu action on price hike

Judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Javed Iqbal on Monday took suo motu notice of exorbitant increase in the prices of daily use items in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He has directed DCO Rawalpindi and Chief Commissioner Islamabad to appear before him in the Chamber and submit report in the matter on June 29, said a press release issued here.
The suo motu notice was taken on a news item appearing in a national daily, which states that the residents of the twin cities have shown concern over the price hike and that the prices of the daily use items have increased manifold and there is no check or control over them.
