Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Qasim Zia here on Monday rejected the new Punjab budget for financial year 2007-08 and termed it pack of lies and game of statistics to deceive the people.
Talking to newsmen on telephone, Qasim Zia, who is also a PPP leader, opined that the budget speech of 2007 was simply a mere repetition of the past, adding that Punjab government functionaries had made changes in the budget books of the last year.
He said that it was unconstitutional and illegal budget that could not announce the NFC award. He lambasted the Punjab government and pointed out that on administration side it had spent record expenditure as compared to other provinces that had shown the real intention of the government to spend budget funds on development projects.
He pointed out that in previous budget government had spent more funds than allocation for the improvement of law and order in the province but they failed to accomplish it in rural and urban areas of the province and law and order situation further deteriorated.
