Qatar Airways on Monday unveiled further details of its summer expansion programme, which sees the airline's award-winning Five Star service spread to the United States for the first time.
The addition of New York, starting from June 26, and Washington DC, beginning from July 19, will further boost the airline's rapidly growing international network from its hub in Doha to beyond 75 destinations world-wide.
Qatar Airways will offer passengers with excellent connections on selected flights from cities it serves in Pakistan to Doha, and beyond to both New York and Washington DC.
Qatar Airways currently serves four cities in Pakistan - Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar - with 13 flights a week to and from Qatar. The airline will fly four-times-a-week between its operational hub of Doha and Newark Liberty International Airport - gateway to New York City - on the US East Coast. The flight will operate via Geneva - the airline's second destination in Switzerland - following its successful services to Zurich, also operated four-times-a-week.
The airline will be the only Middle East carrier flying daily non-stop between Doha and Washington Dulles International Airport. The launch of the US flights is the highlight of Qatar Airways' route expansion programme during 2007, which sees a further seven cities added to the airline's burgeoning international network.
Addressing media in Karachi on Monday, Abdul Qadir Aziz, Qatar Airways' Regional Manager for UAE, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Iran and Afghanistan, presented an update on the airline's plans for the United States, other new destinations. He also gave details about the latest developments of the New Doha International Airport, which is scheduled to open in 2009.
"Qatar Airways is preparing for its biggest route launches of the year with both New York and Washington DC coming on line this summer," he said. "We look forward to adding yet another continent to our growing network offering our passengers flying from cities across Pakistan with excellent connections to both New York and Washington DC via Doha."-PR
