imageKARACHI: Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) has taken up the task to produce talented engineers for the industry.

This was stated by Dr Asim Imdad, Associate Dean of MAJU, while presiding over a meeting with the industry professionals, a spokesman of the institution said here on Wednesday.

He said that the Faculty of Computing and Engineering's basic objective at MAJU is to produce talented persons for the industry and he hoped that students of this university would be leaders in academia by demonstrating their knowledge, technical and managerial skills for the benefit of the society.

The meeting was convened to discuss improvements in syllabus of computer and electrical engineering degree programs in order to make them according to the needs of the industry and to explore possibilities of collaboration on different projects.

Dr. Asim Imdad said that it is our responsibility to prepare our students to work in global environment that is why we have added some new subjects such as Data Science, Deep Learning and Network Security in our syllabus.

During the meeting, the industry representatives emphasized that the communication skills for a technical person are necessary in addition to the strong technical knowledge.

They said that professional issues related to courses are very important and intake of an incoming student should be improved to produce quality graduates.

They also advised to focus on improvements in English communication skills (writing and spoken) of the students so that they may work confidently.

The industry professionals who attended the meeting included Senior Software Architect, Primatics Financial, M. Shiraz Siddiqui, CEO, Get Professionals, Raheem Hasnani, CEO, Advance Electronics International, Shahab Raza Raja, Director, Datalog, Humayun Qureshi and Senior Director, Folio-3, Saqib Saleem.
