ISLAMABAD: Minister for Human Rights, Kamran Michael, Monday apprised the National Assembly that National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) had already been set up to monitor over all human rights violation and situation in the country.
Replying to a question during question hour, the Minister said that the government has taken many steps to create awareness among the citizens about their basic human rights.
He said the government was committed to ensuring human rights of the citizens as envisaged under the constitution as well as international commitments.
The minister said the Ministry of Human Rights has initiated a public awareness campaign on basic human rights under the Action Plan for Human Rights, approved by the Prime Minister on February 13, 2016.
The campaign's major activities included seminars and advertisements in print and electronic media, he said.
