imagePeshawar Zalmi star all rounder Shahid Afridi confirmed that he would not participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) finals at Lahore, after his side managed to book their place against Quetta Gladiators.

Afridi who injured his hand during the last night match against Karachi Kings confirmed the news in his video message on social media. He said that doctors have advised him 10 days rest, and would therefore miss the finals.

"I want to congratulate Peshawar Zalmi fans, and some of my fans making it into the finals I really wanted to play the PSL final in Lahore in front of my countrymen, but there are certain things which are not in ones power," said Afridi.

Afridi suffered the injury on Friday, after he attempted to catch a drive hit by Kieron Pollard off Hassan Alis delivery, but was unable to take the catch and suffered an injury in the process. He was soon rushed for first aid and received 12 stitches in his right hand.

The former Pakistan captain said that he was pleased with his performance in the ongoing league, which was his biggest challenge after T20 World Cup.

"PSL was a big challenge for me after the World T20 because I was not able to give the performances expected by my fans, and I wish that fans must have enjoy my performances during the league."

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi would now face Quetta Gladiators in PSL last encounter at Lahores Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
