Test specialist Asad eyes recognition in limited overs

imagePakistans middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq has honed himself as one of the best at the block, with his consistent performance Asad was pivotal towards the rise of Pakistan as a formidable Test playing nation.

Despite setting records and cementing his place in Pakistan Test side, Asad believes that his best is yet to come. "My best is yet to come," said Shafiq, in an interview to Sport360. "Im working hard on my game to improve every day and to get better every day."

Batting at number six, Asad broke Sir Garfield Sobers record for most Test centuries at that position earlier this year. The batsmen however eyes to bat higher up the order but is content with the teams decision.

"Personally, I always prefer to bat at the top of the order, number three or four. Id like to be there but what matters is what the team requires from me."

Asad being a top performer in the Test side, has so far struggled to make a name for himself in the limited overs format, owing to his low strike rate and lack of power hitting, all that Asad seeks to rectify and looks at the ongoing PSL as a platform to hone his skills.

"I really wanted to improve my strike-rate. In this format, strike-rate is very important so I really wanted to improve my strike-rate and average as well.

"Its about intensity. I have to take my intensity level up to score big in this format because its a very short format so you dont have much time to get in, really get set and then play your shots. I have to change my approach and I want to improve my intensity."
