ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday (Today) imposed a ban on celebrating Valentines Day across the federal capital of Pakistan.
According to the court order, Valentines Day-related festivities have been banned in public places as well as on an official level.
On the other hand, both Print and Electronic Media have been warned and PEMRA ordered to send out notifications banning any such promotions of the day celebrating love.
The court issued the order on a petition arguing that the day is not part of Muslim tradition.
President Mamnoon Hussain, in his statement last year, had urged the nation not to celebrate Valentines Day, saying the day had no connection to our culture, hence it should be avoided.
No public celebration regarding Valentine's Day will be tolerated, according to the orders.
