The security of Thar Express has been handed over to Pakistan Rangers (Sindh). According to a press release received here on Friday, the security of Thar Express from Karachi to Zero point and back has been handed over to Sindh Rangers.
The security measures have been taken in the wake of the security threats in the backdrop of the tragic Samjhota train incident. A comprehensive security plan has been unveiled for the security and safety of the passengers.
As per the security plan only those passengers will be allowed to board the train who are in possession of legal travelling documents which included passport, visa and railway ticket.
The security plan envisages preparation of detailed lists of passengers and their photographs will be taken to help in the identification process. The passengers would be subjected to thorough body search with the help of scanners and other high tech gadgets. Moreover the sniffer dogs will also search the train before leaving the station. A video film of the passengers will also be prepared and all the train boggies will be connected with telephone facilities.
The personnel of Sindh Rangers, to avert any possible terrorist threat, will accompany the passengers in train from Karachi to Zero point and back. The personnel will also be deployed at the railway stations of Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.
As per security plan Railway police, the district police in whose jurisdiction the train passes will also form part of the security arrangements. A comprehensive disaster management plan also formulated to deal with any emergency situation. A control room has been established at Sindh Rangers Headquarters, which will constantly remain in touch with the Thar Express from Karachi to Zero point and back. A medical team of Rangers will board the train for the convenience of passengers.
Sindh Rangers requested the masses and passengers should extend all possible assistance with law enforcement agencies to timely thwart any possible terrorist act and co-operate with the concerned authorities during various stages of checking.-PR
