MUZAFFARABAD: Like elsewhere in Pakistan, the Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with full enthusiasm and reiteration of the pledge with the people of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) that they will never be left alone in their struggle for right to self-determination.
"We will never leave you alone and continue our best efforts to highlight your voices at each and every forum of the world till you get the right to self-determination," AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan affirmed while addressing a joint sitting of AJK Legislative Assembly and Kashmir Council, specially convened on the occasion.
He said the AJK people were the most vulnerable against Indian atrocities as hundreds were made blind, thousands were missing and uncountable crimes were made against innocent people which were unforgettable for the people of other side of the divide.
Sardar Masood assured that the people and government of AJK would put all efforts and resources to help their brethren in IoK and take their voice to every nook and cranny of the world to awake the conscious of international bodies.
He said the freedom struggle was going on in occupied Kashmir and would continue till the achievement of goal of right to self-determination.
The people would never leave this struggle despite the use of brutal force by occupational forces as they proved in the past, he added.
Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Bargees Tahir while addressing the joint sitting reassured Pakistan's support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their right to self-determination struggle and invited India for negotiation to peacefully settle the Kashmir dispute.
He said the just resolution of the issue was in the best interest of both the nations and the region for alleviation of poverty and economic growth, and the Indian government should realize that for the well-being of its people.
He expressed complete solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their struggle and reiterated Pakistan's moral, political and diplomatic support with them.
He strongly condemned Indian atrocities on them.
The minister, earlier, distributed relief goods among refugee families migrated from Indian occupied Kashmir in Muzaffarabad on behalf the federal government as a symbolical expression of solidarity with IoK people.
He also participated in a human chain made at Kohala Bridge, linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir to express solidarity with the people of held Kashmir.
Earlier in the morning, a rally was organized under the banner of Kashmir Liberation cell.
Led by AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, the participants of the rally marched from the Civil Secretariat to Press Club.
