Afridi eyeing to turn free agent cricketer

Published February 1, 2017 Updated February 1, 2017 08:13am

imagePakistan star All-rounder Shahid Afridi, has hinted about retiring from international cricket and focusing playing on different leagues around the world.

I have played all the cricket I wanted to and now I just want to focus and enjoy playing in the leagues, Afridi said, quoted Gulf News.

The flamboyant cricketer has not been in the national team, and is even dropped from the PCB contract. However, Afridi remains an active cricketer and appears regularly in different cricket leagues, including the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) second edition, where he would represent the Peshawar Zalmi.

The former captain was optimistic that PSL would prove fruitful for Pakistan cricket, and was of the view that PSL matches shall be held in different parts of the country.

I think if we have the Pakistan Super League final in Pakistan and it will also give out a positive message. But I would like to see PSL matches being held all over the major cricket centres in the country, he said.

It is pertinent to inform that there is still a lot of uncertainty revolving around Shahid Afridi, regarding whether he would get a chance by the PCB to play a farewell match or not.
