ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has requested the Supreme Court to allow live media coverage of the Panamagate cases proceedings so that the nation could know accurate situation.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan said there is no limit to telling lies and a very bad impression will go across to the masses if the PML-N lawyers justify the case with legal arguments, the local media reported.
According to a report on Dawn, the opposition party accuses the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz of misleading people by providing wrong information regarding the case proceedings through the media.
The government also levels a similar allegation against the PTI that it does not present actual picture of the case proceedings in its press conferences.
Talking to reporters outside the court, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs lawyer had sought immunity for his client in the case. But whenever PML-N leaders come before the media they claim that Mr Sharif presented himself for accountability and did not raise the issue of maintainability of the case.
In this situation, I request the Supreme Court to allow live telecast of the case proceedings so that the nation may know what is going on in the court, he said.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Imran Khan told media persons outside the Supreme Courts premises that the nation wanted the court to decide the matter. They [the Sharifs] have failed to substantiate their claims about the money trail. There is nothing left in this case now, Khan observed.
Fawad Chaudhry advised the PML-N to elect a new Prime Minister in the next meeting of the Parliamentary committee as the ruling party will be in great trouble in case the Supreme Court of Pakistan delivers its verdict in the case.
The Panama Papers have whipped up a storm of controversy over offshore wealth, ensnaring political leaders, sports figures and underworld members across the globe in the scandal.
