Pakistan born, South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir paid glowing tribute to singer-turned-evangelist Junaid Jamshed, who died in a plane crash last year that claimed 48 lives.
Tahir, known for his eccentric celebrations in the cricketing world, set off on a run in celebration, after dismissing Sri Lanka's Asela Gunaratne during the second T20 International match on Sunday, and lifted his shirt to reveal a portrait of Jamshed printed on his undershirt.
The Proteas leggie, who hails from Pakistani city of Lahore, has went on to represent South Africa in 20 Tests, 64 ODI and 29 T20Is. Tahir has found considerable success in the limited overs format since making his debut in 2011. The leggie went on to claim one wicket during the match at the Wanderers.
The match was won by Sri Lanka who beat the hosts by three wickets after an exciting game.
The PIA flight PK-661 carrying 48 passengers and crew crashed on the way to Islamabad from Chitral on December 7 last year. There were no survivors reported from the ill-fated flight.
As per media reports, Junaid Jamshed used to visit South Africa after he turned preacher and had meetings with cricketers including Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir.
