The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Multan bosses have darkened the future of thousands of students after failing to disseminate the Punjab Education Ministry's policies among students on 'F' grade, now started dispatching circulars to students to produce their SSC improved 'F' grade certificate otherwise their Intermediate certificate would be terminated, it is learnt.
The Multan BISE has earned millions of rupees in the name of examination fee allowing the students carrying 'F' to appear in their annual exams while the students also paid the burden of admission fee to colleges.
The Pakistan Saraiki Party (PSP) has threatened for mass agitation, setting up hunger strike camps against Punjab government for discriminately treating the students and darkening their future. PSP also demanded the Punjab Chief Minister for immediate cancellation of Multan BISE circular with stern action against the officials for committing negligence and kept students unaware on the policy.
The victim students held Multan BISE officials responsible for committing negligence, remained fail in disseminating information on 'F' grade two years before while they have passed their Intermediate exams. Students said they were facing the failures of Multan BISE, which darkened their future.
Hina Naz, a student who passed her SSC annual exam in 2004 with 'F' grade told this scribe that she was given admission in the college in Intermediate with out raising objection on 'F' grade. She said that she has passed her Intermediate exam but no notice or objection was raised from any side and studying in graduation.
"Nobody inform me including the Multan BISE on changed policy on 'F' grade and I got admission in 3rd year when I have been served a notice to produce 'F' grade improved result card otherwise my Intermediate certificate will be cancelled", She said.
Official sources said that the Punjab Education Department had issued a notification vide No 232/ASR dated 22.7.2004, bounding all the students improving their SSC 'F' grade before doing their Intermediate exams. The education department also provided equal opportunities to them improving of 'F' grade till SSC annual exam 2006.
The notification was sent to all the education boards for widely disseminating the policy among the students and conveying to all the students who had obtained their 'F' grades in their respective SSC exams.
However, a large numbers of complained that Multan BISE authorities remained aloof disseminating policy or conveying them at any level since the issuance of notification.
All the colleges entertained students and admitted them and sent their admissions for annual exams with out raising objection of improving the SSC 'F' grade after the issuance of notification. The students passed their Intermediate exams and got admissions in next term of graduation.
Now, the Multan BISE officials have sent circulars to all students were going to appear in the exam of part I of graduation with warning if their 'F' grade was not improved their intermediate certificates would be cancelled.
The PSP Provincial Rabita secretary Ahmed Nawaz Soomro has threatened for mass protest on darkening the future of students by Education Department. He said hundreds of students with 'F' grade were declared eligible getting admissions in Intermediate with out intimating to improve their 'F' grades. The Multan BISE received millions of rupees in examination fee from students carrying 'F' grades and allowed them to appear in their respective Intermediate exams.
He further said the Punjab government has failed devising any plan of education uplift in the province especially remote areas of south Punjab. When contacted Multan BISE chairman Muhammad Nawaz Javed, he said he had very little knowledge on the policy, please talk to BISE deputy secretary Javed Siddiq. When talked to him he remained fail justifying their failures in disseminating Punjab government information on the matter.
"I am not confident whether students are informed or not but I can explain you after sorting record", he said. The assistant controller admitted that numbers of candidates have moved to courts on that pertaining issue.
