World number one Nicol David of Malaysia won the Asian Games women's squash singles gold medal here Thursday beating defending champion Rebecca Chiu in the final. The 23-year-old top seed, who won the Asian title in 1998 as a 15-year-old, beat Chiu of Hong Kong 9-0, 9-3, 9-3 in a one-sided final.
David began the first game in some style, racing to a 6-0 lead in a matter of minutes and eventually securing the opener without conceding a point. Dominating the court, David forced Chiu into a succession of unforced errors with powerfully-hit strokes deep into the corners of the court and delightfully-feigned drop shots.
