LAHORE: The birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated in the provincial capital with great fervour on Sunday.
Special cake cutting ceremonies to pay tribute to the great leader were held at Gulshan Ravi, Aiwan-i-Quaid-e-Azam, whereas walk from Shadman Market to Mazar-e-Iqbal was organized by Peace Welfare Foundation besides a number of other ceremonies.
Meanwhile, talking to APP here, Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) Secretary General Shahid Rasheed said the Quaid always gave the message of faith, unity, discipline, belief, determination and hard work through his speeches and acts to counter all challenges.
He said that Pakistan was a gift from Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Highlighting the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam, he said that the Founder of Pakistan was a multi-faceted personality and his charismatic personality gathered Muslims of the Subcontinent on a single platform.
"We should pledge to mould our daily life in accordance with the Quaid's thoughts and way of life to combat both internal and external challenges, faced by Pakistan currently," the secretary added.
Shahid Rasheed said the Quaid-e-Azam had stressed that democratic system of governance on the basis of Islamic ideology would prevail in the country in which the people could spend their lives as per their religion, culture and social values and norms.
He said that the youth should come forward with the spirit that Quaid-e-Azam had inculcated in them through his message of determination and hard work.
Quaid-e-Azam, while addressing students, had said: "When you have got that light of knowledge by means of education and
when you have made yourselves strong economically and industrially, then you have got to prepare yourselves for your defence -- defence against external aggression and to maintain internal security," the secretary related a quote of the Quaid.
Addressing the students of Islamia College Peshawar, the Quaid-e-Azam said: "We do not demand Pakistan simply to have a piece of land but we want a laboratory where we could experiment on Islamic principles," Shahid Rasheed quoted.
