imageThe rise of Pakistan Test skipper Misbah ul Haq, has arguable been one of the best story tales of modern cricket.

Taking over the Pakistan captaincy at the time when the doors of international cricket were shut in the country. Misbah has carried on the cricket team both effectively and efficiently, fostering out talented bowlers and batsman turning Pakistan into a cricketing force in the game purest form i.e. Test cricket.

However, the 42 years old is one of the oldest cricketers in the game today, and finding a replacement for him would be a daunting task, as it remains to be seen who will measure up to Pakistans most experience and successful Test captain.

Pakistan upcoming series against Australia could be Misbahs last, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

According to report, the Test skipper was asked to continue as captain until the series in Australia when he met with PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan before Pakistan left for tour of England in June.

"After the meeting what has become clear is that Misbah wouldn't carry on for long and the PCB must start looking for a successor after the Australia series with input from head coach, Mickey Arthur," quoted a source.

"Misbah told Khan (Shaharyar Khan) in the meeting that he wouldn't be able to carry on for long regardless of the results in the test series this year so the board has also mentally now prepared to start the search for a new captain soon," the source added.

Misbah has already announced his retirement from ODIs, which came after the last year's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
