imageISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday heard the disqualification case relating to references against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Secretary General Jahangir Tareen and PM’s son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar.

The ECP gave Khan, Tareen and Safdar until November 22 to submit their responses. According to local media reports, the electoral body took up the disqualification references against Khan and Tareen earlier today sent by the Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.

Speaking to the media, PTI spokesperson Naeem-ul-Haq said Sadiq’s reference against the Chairman PTI was fallacious, based on lies. He said the PML-N group who filed the references against Khan was now finding it hard to defend their claims and so were not present today.

The commission expressed displeasure at the absence of PML-N’s Muhammad Khan Daha, who filed a petition against Jahangir Tareen alleging that the PTI Secretary General had set up offshore companies and had been exposed in Panama Papers leak.

The ECP issued notices to Daha and PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry for November 22 and postponed the case hearing till next Tuesday.
