Committee recommends disciplinary action against those found negligent in Gaddani incident

ISLAMABAD: A high-level committee constituted by the Prime Minister to investigate the causes leading to fire incident at Gaddani has submitted its report to the Prime Minister Office, and recommended disciplinary action against those found negligent.

The committee also recommended financial compensation for victims and their families.

The committee noticed that safety measures for the labour working at Gaddani were absolutely inadequate. The committee suggested identification of responsibilities of government as well as shippers for taking measures for safety and security of the labour.

The committee, in its report in that regard emphasized for taking practical steps.

The high-level committee has recommended to constitute Ship Recycling Board Gaddani (SRBG) under the supervision of Chief Secretary Balochistan.

The SRBG will be responsible to fully implement the recommendation of the report to avoid such incidents. It will be fully equipped to prevent such disasters in future.
