India increasing escalation on LoC, Working Boundary: DG ISPR

Published November 14, 2016 Updated November 14, 2016 09:14pm

imageISLAMABAD: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa Monday said India was continuously increasing escalation along the Line of Control and Working Boundary with clear pattern, by first using small arms, then mortar fire and ultimately artillery fire, and that too after a gap of 13 years.

Speaking in a TV programme he said, the incident was not limited to this day as India had started escalating the situation on the Line of Control (LoC) in September this year.

Seven Jawans of Pakistan Army were martyred on Monday (today) in the cease fire violation firing at the LoC by India. The incident was highly saddening, he added.

Indian escalation was continuing and two Jawans had been martyred since September this year. "While another seven embraced martyrdom in today's incident," he added.

He said Pakistan had never initiated escalation, however whenever India showed aggression on the LoC, Pakistan always responded in a befitting manner.

This year, he said, India had committed 199 violations on the LoC while 38 violations on working boundary till todate.

Those violations were started during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in September 2016, when Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was there to present Pakistan's point of view effectively, he added.

The DG ISPR said when India failed to control indigenous movement by Kashmiri youth, it staged a drama of 'surgical strike' against Pakistan, but was exposed after it could not produce any evidence.

Questions were also raised in India as well as internationally on Indian claim of surgical strike, he said.

Bajwa said, before any important event or whenever Kashmir movement intensified, India had always started committing violations on the LoC.

Indian casualties as a result of retaliation from Pakistan were three times higher he said adding Pakistan openly announced its martyrs and acknowledged their bravery, while India always hid such killings or claimed smaller numbers.
