Taking strong note of the excessive billing by gas companies, the Network for Consumer Protection has said that the consumers are facing severe problems due to false billing by the gas companies.
A spokesman of the Network, in a statement on Thursday said that both the distribution companies ie, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) were delivering excessive and incorrect bills amounting to thousands of rupees even to domestic consumers of lower slabs.
"The complaints against excessive gas bills registered with Consumer Complaint Cell (CCC) of The Network has witnessed a sharp increase in the last quarter, which is alarming as the consumers are paying more than the actual consumption", the spokesman said.
"The data shows that such complaints are increasing and consumers are left with no option but to pay or enter into a painfully long litigation.
