To express solidarity with the earthquake victims, the oath taking ceremony was held in simple way at Bara Dari Bagh-e-Jinnah (Polo Ground), which was attended by federal & provincial ministers, MNAs, senators, MPAs, bureaucrats, foreign diplomats, notables of the city and others.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, in a brief talk with newsmen, New City Nazim Karachi Mustafa Kamal announced Rs 20 million for earthquake-affected people of northern Pakistan from the discretionary fund of the City Nazim.
Outlining the priorities, Mustafa said that six to seven priority areas, including water, sewerage, health & education, transport, sanitation and business infrastructure would be focussed upon to bring improvement in lives of citizens, so they could feel the change themselves.
"Pray for me, so that I will be able to serve people in accordance with the trust they have conferred on me," he added.
