India's Asian Games discus champion Neelam Jaswant Singh was provisionally suspended by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Saturday following an adverse analytical finding for the prohibited substance, the stimulant pemoline.
The test was conducted on the 34-year-old in-competition in Helsinki on August 7 after the qualifying competition from which she failed to progress.
Singh - who took silver in the 2002 Commonwealth Games - is provisionally suspended under IAAF Rules pending a hearing before the relevant disciplinary tribunal of the Athletics Federation of India. If found guilty the 1998 Asian Games bronze medallist would face a minimum of a two year ban under the rules regarding a first-time violation for pemoline.
