Pakistan Baitul Maal will distribute Rs 20 million among the needy and poor people under the Food Support Programme. In this connection, registration of 15,000 individuals has been started and the deserving people asked to contact DDO (Revenue) of their respective Tehsils or the Baitul Maal office here.
District Co-ordination Officer Gujranwala, Khalid Masood Chaudhry said this while presiding over a meeting of the officers of Pakistan Bailul Maal, Social Welfare Department and Revenue Department here on Saturday. Executive District Officer (Revenue) Tariq Bajwa, District Officer (Co-ordination) Dr Usman Ali Khan, Asif Jahangir and DDOs Najeeb Aslam, Sibt Hassan Shah, Gulzar Ahmed, Ziaullah and Rana Ghulam Hussain attended the meeting.
The DCO said that under Pakistan Bailul Maal Scheme, millions of rupees assistance would be provided to the handicapped and the poor patients of cancer and hepatitis.
He told the meeting that after thorough checking the Zakat department would provide the deserving persons' lists to revenue officers of respective Tehsils.
He added that check and balance system of Zakat funds would be improved so that the deserving people get maximum benefits of the government policies.
The DCO also directed all the relevant revenue officers to establish data bank of the needy people of their respective areas. He made it clear that non-Muslim needy persons would also have the right to fully get benefit of these schemes.
