Gujranwala Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Zafar Abbas Luk has said that government has initiated a well-knitted plan costing Rs 7 billion to set up Police Patrol posts in Punjab. Addressing a press conference here Friday last, he said the concept of setting up police patrol posts was to minimise the robberies, overspeeding, and accidents on highways.
Replying to a question, the DIG said more Rescue-15 centres would be established in Sialkot and Daska for providing speedy relief to the people and help scaling down the crime graph, adding that special drive has been initiated for curtailing the criminal activities in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin districts as a 515 criminals have been arrested and recovered Rs 27,702,000 during past 20 days.
The DIG also said that 1,427 cases were registered out of which 483 were old in six districts of the Gujranwala range, adding a vigorous drive against drug-traffickers would soon be launched for purging the Gujranwala range of this menace.
He said a separate campaign would also be started against the violators of traffic rules and overloading in the Gujranwala range.
