The government has ordered investigation into the blast in Bari Imam shrine and sought a detailed report of the inquiry committee within three weeks, sources said on Saturday. A meeting was held here in Interior Ministry to review overall law and order situation emerging from Friday's deadly blast in Noor Pur Shahan. It was presided over by Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. The Minister of State for Interior, Shahzad Waseem, Director General Crisis Management Cell Brigadier Javed Nasir Cheema, DG FIA, DG Intelligence Bureau, IG Islamabad, Talat Mehmood Tariq, SSP Islamabad, Liaquat Ali Khan and other officials from CID and Punjab Police attended the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that a committee should be constituted under the supervision of SSP Islamabad, Captain Liaquat Ali Khan which would submit its report to the ministry regarding the Bari Imam blast within three weeks.
The officials of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Federal Investigation Agency, C.I.D Punjab, Islamabad Police and intelligence agencies would co-ordinate with the inquiry committee in this regard, sources added.
Interior Ministry has also directed the inquiry committee to initiate probe into the incident and also take assistance from the provincial home department regarding the network of the suicide bombers, sources said.
Sherpao directed the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and Police to take stringent security measures around the places of worship and religious importance, including mosques and imamabargahs.
He said that Parliament, Presidency, Prime Minister House, Diplomatic Enclave and official sensitive installations should be major focusing areas of police security.
He directed the ICT Police to be on high alert and to beef up security in the diplomatic enclave and around foreign missions to avoid targeted attacks.
Talking to this scribe, Pims spokesman Dr Waseem Khawja said that condition of about six to eight patients was unstable. He said that DNA samples of the bomber had been sent to Kahuta Research Laboratory.
Emergency continues at Pims and Polyclinic for treatment of critical patients.
The government has offered Rs 2 million reward for identity of the suicide bomber. Security has been tightened in view of likely sectarian tension. The police near Zero Point baton-charged Shia protestors who came from different areas of Punjab, but no arrest was reported.
