Arsenal won the FA Cup for the 10th time on Saturday when they beat arch-rivals Manchester United 5-4 on penalties after the season-ending showpiece ended goalless for the first time since 1912. Arsene Wenger's side barely mustered a shot on target in the regulation 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra time as United dominated, but they hung on grimly to force the first penalty shootout in FA Cup final history. Nine of the 10 penalties were successfully converted, with Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann's diving save from Paul Scholes proving decisive. Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira completed the triumph when he shot high past Roy Carroll.
United twice hit the woodwork in normal time through Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Arsenal striker Jose Antonio Reyes was sent off in the final minute of extra time for a second yellow card.
