KARACHI: The women of Asia truly believe that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but what they also know is that very few are aware that beauty lies in every little detail of the thought of the beholder as well.
They believe that a woman is a beautiful creation. The antiques of their beauty, from chooridar pajamas to matha pattis, from chaand balis to hanslis, from pazaibs to jhumkas, the women of the subcontinent paint an absolutely unique and breath-taking picture of how ravishing this creation can be.
Such is an example of a lady who brings you Golconda.
Amber sami, presents a collection of jewelry that draws its title from the historic magic of Hyderabad Deccan. She was led to this city by a series of wonderful guidances.
There she heard Tina Sani sing the Deccani ghazal by Faiz sahib,
“Kuch Pehlay in ankhon aagay kya kya na nazara guzray tha”
She further says that: “I had met with Noorjehan shortly before my trip to Hyderabad, and this was soon followed by sharing a moment with her from when I was at the Golconda Fort. It was a day when I was overwhelmed by the bejeweled architecture and sheer elegance of this city.”
For her, this was a time steeped in music, in living cultural heritage, and especially, a time of rich friendships. She returned to design this current collection of jewelry, with variations on the theme of the fabulous Hyderabadi "jugni" as centerpiece and as homage to the land.
Each individual piece, presented in Golconda is the interpretation of a centuries old craft and sensibility. It suggests adornment of self, in the highest of realms. She shares with us the joy, and the power when a journey and chance connections such as these, happen in life.
