The government has planned to make fresh laws regarding the registration of foreigners and expanding the circle of mandatory registration to at least 50 countries from 17 states.
"We are going to introduce a fresh registration law for foreigners and ending the exemption for some countries and it would soon be introduced," an Interior Ministry official said.
He said that tens of thousands of Indians did not register themselves when they visit Pakistan and later burnt their passports and visas to claim to be Pakistani nationals. Similar case was of Bangladeshis, Sri-Lankans, and Afghanis.
He told that more than 3 million people are illegally staying in Pakistan. Ninety percent of them are living in Karachi and its suburbs. Some of them were found indulged in subversive and terrorist activities.
After promulgation of the registration law, the visitors from United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, France, Canada, Sweden and Belgium would also get themselves registration within 24 hours of their arrival in Pakistan.
