NUST inks MoU with EPRI

Published April 19, 2004 Updated April 19, 2004 12:00am

Maintaining its tradition of fostering research partnerships beneficial to both academic and national arenas, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) USA.
EPRI, which is an unbiased, non-profit research consortium, undertakes research projects with utilities, universities, government and private industry. NUST and EPRI have signed the MoU to explore the possibility of carrying out EPRI funded research projects relevant to areas of mutual interest.
Pro Rector NUST welcomed Asia Representative EPRI, Dr David Farley to NUST. This was followed by a comprehensive briefing on NUST's academic programmes, future plans, industrial linkages and research collaborations.
Dr Farley briefed NUST officials about background of EPRI and of its research activities in the areas of power generation and discussed the areas of potential collaboration between NUST and EPRI.
Rector NUST proposed the initiation of collaborative research effort involving experts from College of E&ME, NUST and from EPRI, focusing on hydrogen cell technology, and cost-effective and efficient power generation for the country.
In his concluding remarks, Dr David indicated EPRI's keen interest towards building enduring research collaboration between NUST and EPRI, which was officially endorsed by way of signing of the MoU between the two organisations.
