A total number of 120 couples, 107 Muslims and 13 Christians belonging to poor strata of society, were tied into matrimonial bondage during a function held at the Fortress Stadium here on Sunday.
Similar functions have been held throughout the province in the recent past on the initiative of Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd). Holdings of these functions have acclaimed wider appreciation of people from all walks of life in the country.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi with his presence on the occasion made the function yet another radiant occurrence.
Chief minister, speaking at the ceremony, appreciated the provincial governor's efforts in arranging such functions. He said the marriage functions that are currently held at district level should also be arranged at tehsil level in the province.
